The Cape Eleuthera research expedition was founded through the collaborative effort of a local community member and Ken Vencile, Camden Hills Regional High School biology teacher and winner of the presidential award in science (2011).  Aleisha’s Fund enables students and educators to travel to one of the world’s unique living marine research environments.

Aleisha had been selected as one of the 12 students on the Cape Eleuthera research expedition that would tie her love of the water, people, and academics together in a transformative experience when her life was tragically cut short.  Aleisha had a kind, genuine, and playful spirit whose smile lit up a room. People always noticed her stunning features but it was her inner beauty that drew people to her.  Aleisha’s Fund was established shortly after her death so that other deserving students could have the opportunity that she had so eagerly anticipated.
